22nd MXG member earns spotlight performer
MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. --
Tech. Sgt. Richard Jay, 22nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron KC-135 assistant flying crew chief/electrical and environmental system craftsman, has been in the Air Force for nine and a half years. He has been stationed at McConnell for more than two years. When he isn't on duty, Jay spends time with his wife and two boys.
Who is the most positive influence in your life and why?
My grandfather is the most positive influence. He served 30 years in the Air Force. He gave me the motivation to join.
What would you like to accomplish during your Air Force career?
Retire as a chief master sergeant. I also want to make a positive impact on those around me and help Airmen reach the highest potential in all they do.
Where is the most interesting place you have traveled and why do you feel that way?
Malaysia was the most interesting place I have visited because of the vast cultural differences.
What is your favorite book/ movie and why?
My favorite book is "The Final Frontiersman" by James Campbell. My favorite movie is "Lord of War."
If you have the opportunity to meet anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
I would like to meet Hiemo Korth from the non-fiction book, "The Final Frontiersman." I am very intrigued by Korth's determination to live more than 130 miles north of the Arctic Circle, with his wife and two daughters, recreating the life of early fur traders in the American West.
