The 22nd Air Refueling Wing will launch an annual readiness exercise Tuesday, which will continue through Saturday across the base.

The annual operational readiness exercise is designed to provide Airmen with actionable feedback to help them enhance processes and prepare to respond to external threats through a series of simulated deployment scenarios.

“Our team puts in the hard work to fuel the fight downrange,” said Col. Josh Olson, 22nd ARW commander. “We are putting our training to the test by exercising our ability to execute combat- ready air refueling at a moment’s notice.”

This week’s exercise will prepare McConnell Airmen to operate successfully while under extremely taxing conditions.

“We are exercising our full force’s readiness skills by simulating operations in a stressful deployed environment,” said Jeffrey Jewell, 22nd ARW deputy inspector general.

Visitors and neighbors may witness increased operations, and base personnel should expect delays in normal services across the base.

The surrounding community can expect to hear abnormal alarms, sirens and announcements during the 24-hour operations throughout the week. McConnell AFB is an operational military installation, and fluctuations in daily procedures and operations are not a cause for concern.
