MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. — As outdated office furniture and equipment reaches the end of its life cycle, 22nd Logistics Readiness Squadron flight services center uses the disposition services to maximize supplies that can be repurposed.
The disposition services process plays a critical role in allowing the Department of Defense to continuously supply its assets from recycled equipment.
“Most people have the interpretation that everything goes to a Defense Logistics Agency site to be scrapped,” said David Rollings, 22nd LRS flight services center lead supervisor. “Some things go up for auction and are reutilized to the max extent possible.”
Disposition Services helps Team McConnell reallocate resources by delivering equipment to a DLA site at Fort Riley, Kansas. Rollings said that funds acquired from auctions and scrapings are dispersed back into DoD agencies and their operational budgets.
Last year the 22nd LRS flight services center repurposed $2.5 million in assets back into the DoD’s operational budget.
The flight services center is available Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. They process equipment every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. To schedule an appointment, contact the 22nd LRS flight services center at 759-4896.
