As a spotlight performer, individuals are chosen by leadership for demonstrating the Air Force's Core Values: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do.

Senior Airman Joseph Cadwallader, 349th Air Refueling Squadron boom operator, received the spotlight performer for Sept. 12-16.

Cadwallader is currently in charge of publications, mission kits and tracking of supplemental evaluations. He was recently recognized as a candidate for instructor boom operator.

“Senior Airman Cadwallader steps up to every challenge placed in front of him,” said Master Sgt. Ron MacMeeken, 349th ARS superintendent. “His dedication to detail and work ethic are remarkable. [He] led the shop during frequent times of minimal manning, and did a tremendous job, regularly demonstrating performances on par with lieutenants and junior captains.”

The Rogersville, Tennessee, native, joined the Air Force in May 2013 and arrived at McConnell in April 2014. His hobbies include: drumming and playing guitar, fishing, hunting, cars and basketball.

Who is the most positive influence in your life and why?
My sister is the most positive influence in my life. She motivates me to be a better person, not just in what I do outside of work, but at my job as well.

If you could give advice to a new Airman, what would it be and why?
Do not miss any opportunities you might have to either better yourself or better someone around you. It’s easy to give up, but anything worth working hard for, is worth it in the end.

What is one goal that you have already accomplished, or would like to accomplish, during your Air Force career?
I would like to receive my bachelor’s in business administration.

Where is the most interesting place you have traveled and why do you feel that way?
The most interesting place I have traveled to would have to be Sicily, Italy. I love the culture, and while being so different, the Italian culture is still a lot like the American culture.

If you had the opportunity to meet anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
If I had the opportunity to meet anyone it would be Dave Grohl. I am a huge music fanatic. He has done so much for the rock community, and has a ton of experiences we could talk about.
