KC-135 Stratotanker 60th Anniversary


As the largest KC-135 Stratotanker wing in the Air Force, Team McConnell is proud to uphold the legacy of the KC-135 as we prepare for tomorrow's contingencies. The KC-135 is a working "baby boomer" that has refueled Global Airpower for 60 years. The aircraft enabled fighters in Vietnam; bombers in the Global War on Terrorism to do their missions with a clinched fist and humanitarian missions to reach those in need with open arms. Our KC-135 tankers at McConnell AFB have been around the world refueling airpower and protecting the freedom of our nation for six decades. The millions of miles flown and the hours from dedicated Airmen are the heart of the KC-135 program.

Tech. Sgt. Dwight Miller, 349th Air Refueling Squadron boom operator, recently achieved the milestone of 500 combat missions on his 15th deployment as a boom operator with the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing out of Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. Miller completed his 500th combat mission on his deployment his, during his career Miller has refueled nearly every type of U.S. Air Force aircraft including bombers, cargo and fighters, as well as U.S. Navy, French, British, Germany, Australians, Saudi Arabians and Netherlands fighters.
