Colonel JUSTIN J. EDER

Col. Justin J. Eder is the Commander at the 22nd Medical Group, McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas. Col. Eder provides operational command and control over two squadrons consisting of 276 personnel in a 90,000 square foot facility serving 12,000 beneficiaries with an annual operating budget of $15,000,000. He advises the wing commander, wing staff agencies, and three group commanders on medical contingency planning and all matters relating to medical care and readiness.

Prior to his current position, Col Eder was the Administrator of the 60th Medical Group, David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base, California. As the Administrator, he was the Chief Operating Officer of the Air Force’s largest hospital. He oversaw a $176 million budget, 106 beds, and 2,400 staff who delivered ready and reliable healthcare to 276,000 beneficiaries in two medical facilities. He also directed partnership activities for the Air Force’s largest joint venture with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Col. Eder began his military career as a Journalist in the United States Navy, serving from 1993 to 1995. In 1998, he became an Engineering Officer in the North Dakota Army National Guard until he accepted a direct commission in the Medical Service Corps in 2001. He has held various Medical Service Corps, Executive Officer, and leadership positions at the flight, squadron and headquarters levels. Col Eder maintains an active board certification through the Medical Group Management Association.
