Recently, the Defensive Information Systems Agency identified a phishing campaign on the Department of Defense network targeting Air Force users.

The phishing attempt notified registered Citibank customers of an upgrade to their online banking services and provided a link for personnel to enroll.

Personnel are encouraged to use the cybersecurity stoplight method when they think they are receiving a suspicious email--STOP, THINK and CONNECT. If Airmen STOP to understand the risks of being online, THINK about online warning signs, then they will be able to CONNECT to cyberspace safely.

Citibank has implemented safeguards for their customers to validate their emails, such as, providing Email Security Zone on their correspondence that includes the customer's name and last four digits of their credit card number or bank account number.

The phishing attempt is under investigation and has yet to be determined what, if any, malicious intent was present.

Airmen can contact their local cyber liaison officer if they think they receive a suspicious email.
