Tax season is coming up, and electronic delivery provides a quick and secure way to receive your tax forms.

The Defense Finance and Accounting Service is urging all of its active-duty and reserve service members, retirees, annuitants and civilian customers to switch their W-2 forms, IRS forms 1095-B/C and Leave and Earnings Statements to electronic delivery instead of paper copies.

Mailing hard-copies requires man-hours and resources to print and mail, switching to E-Delivery could save the Department of Defense millions of dollars.

The DoD and taxpayers are not the only ones benefiting. Users will receive the forms nearly a whole month earlier and they will be more secure because there isn’t a possibility of it being stolen or delivered to someone else.

Switching over to E-Delivery is easy, with this three-step process:
Step 1: Log into MyPay (https://mypay.dfas.mil/mypay.aspx)
Step 2: Access the "Turn On/Off Hard Copy of IRS Form 1095" under the "Taxes" section
Step 3: Select "Yes", unless "Current 1095 Delivery Method" is already set to "Electronic Only"

IRS Form 1095 is currently the only tax form that can be switched to E-Delivery. After Jan. 31, 2017, you will be able be change your W-2 and 1099-INT delivery method.
