The pedestrian bridge that connects McConnell Air Force Base to military housing reopened May 8.

The bridge was closed in February 2015, while Corvias Military Housing, the company responsible for base housing, began construction on new homes for McConnell Airmen.

“The pedestrian bridge allows a safe crossing across Rock Road from the housing area to the main base,” said Lt. Col. Clifford Theony, 22nd Civil Engineer Squadron commander. “Corvias has made excellent progress constructing new homes, so now our Airmen and families have convenient and safe access to work and base services like the gym, commissary, Base Exchange and all the other services that make McConnell a great place to live.”

Opening the bridge is a significant milestone linked to the overall progress of the Air Force-Corvias partnership. Corvias has completed construction and renovation of more than 200 homes in the last two years here and will ultimately finish 364 homes by the end of 2018.
