As a spotlight performer, individuals are chosen by leadership for demonstrating the Air Force's Core Values: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do.

Airman 1st Class Cody Ziegler, 22nd Comptroller Squadron financial services technician, received the spotlight performer for the week of June 5-9.

Ziegler assists customers with any travel and military pay questions, inputs separation and retirement payments and is the primary point of contact for the finance customer service inbox. He manages the wing LeaveWeb program, in which he reconciles outstanding transactions, trains program representatives and preserves the leave balances for over 4,000 members. Ziegler also monitors deployment entitlements, processing over 500 transactions per month for deployed members of team McConnell.

"Airman Ziegler possesses a strong work ethic and sets a high standard for his peers to emulate,” said Tech. Sgt. Dustin Floyd, Financial Services flight chief. “He has the intrinsic desire to not only do his job well, but do it right. Ziegler is an asset to the 22nd CPTS and McConnell Air Force Base.”

Ziegler, a Cooperstown, Pennsylvania, native, joined the Air Force in February 2016 and arrived at McConnell in August 2016. His hobbies include running, lifting weights, hiking, kayaking and any sports related activity.

Who is the most positive influence in your life and why?

The most positive influence I have in my life would be my father. I admire his work ethic and the sacrifices he makes to impact the people around him in a positive manner.

If you could give advice to a new Airman, what would it be and why?

My advice to new Airmen would be always plan something to look forward to outside of work. Whether it’s a vacation, sporting event or meeting up with friends or family. When you have something to look forward to it makes time seem like it’s flying by.

What is one goal that you have already accomplished, or would like to accomplish, during your Air Force career?

My main goal while in the Air Force is to work on my bachelor’s in accounting. While working to accomplish this, I hope to obtain Senior Airman below the zone, with my education being a main factor on my package.

Where is the most interesting place you have traveled and why do you feel that way?

I’ve been to a lot of interesting places, but if I had to pick one, it would be Jamaica. It was really interesting to see how laid back and happy their culture seemed, compared to the United States. Here in the U.S. I feel there’s a lot of hatred and competitiveness, while there, everyone was upbeat and friendly.

If you had the opportunity to meet anyone in the world, who would it be and why?

If I could meet anyone in the world, it would be Kobe Bryant, formerly of the Los Angeles Lakers. I admire his mentality to succeed and his will to perfect everything he does, no matter how little the task. I would love to be able to pick his brain and learn some of his thought processes and keys to success.
