22nd MDSS Airman earns Faces of AR recognition

As a Faces of AR recognition, individuals are chosen by leadership for demonstrating the Air Force's Core Values: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do. 

 

Staff Sgt. Megan Thomas, 22nd Medical Support Squadron NCO in-charge of the family health clinic, received Faces of Air Refueling recognition Aug. 31.

 

Thomas’s duties consist of ensuring patient and clinic flow. She completes pre-provider assessments, medication reconciliation to enhance patient safety, assists with medical procedures and provides guidance to incoming Airmen. Thomas also acts as stand in flight chief when needed, and is considered the eyes and ears of the medical providers.

 

“Thomas has proven to be an invaluable asset to the tanker medic team,” said Capt. Tracy Krayer, 22nd MDOS medical services flight commander. “Thomas goes above and beyond by ensuring our newest tanker medics are properly trained to deliver and support the combat air refueling mission”

                                   

Thomas, a Lansing, Michigan, native, joined the Air Force in April 2007 and arrived at McConnell in December 2012.

 

What are the best parts about the job? 

The best part of my job is helping people. We see most people at their worst, so being able to help someone when they are sick is a great feeling.

 

How do you feel like you contribute to the mission? 

My day-to-day contribution consist of managing a health care team and taking care of our fellow Airmen and their family members. We ensure all active duty members meet their individual mobilization readiness status and all family members are up-to-date on immunizations. I am also the site emergency management training coordinator and a certified EMT instructor. I ensure all of our medics are trained and maintain certification in order to complete the mission.

 

What are the keys to success in your Air Force career? 

The keys to success are flexibility and teamwork.

 

What is one goal that you have already accomplished, or would like to accomplish, during your Air Force career? 

I would like to complete my bachelors in psychology and go on to complete my masters in marketing.
