349th ARS Airman earns Faces of AR recognition

MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. --  As a Faces of AR recognition, individuals are chosen by leadership for demonstrating the Air Force's Core Values: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do.

Staff Sgt. Kassandra Farani, 349th Air Refueling Squadron commander support staff NCO-in-charge of personnel, received Faces of Air Refueling recognition Sept. 14.

Farani’s duties consist of providing administrative support to the squadron commander, ensuring seamless inbound and outbound transitions, analyzing and implementing squadron policies, authorizing edits and processing high-level awards and decorations for 150 squadron members. Farani also coordinates and executes unit commander’s calls.

“Staff Sgt. Farani was critical to the group, recovering more than 10,000 temporary duty days by aiding in creating a process to allow Air Mobility Command to accurately see the effort McConnell Airman are putting into the ongoing fight around the world,” said Senior Master Sgt. Jerod Norden, 349th ARS superintendent.

The El Centro, California native, joined the Air Force in May 2008 and arrived at McConnell in July 2016.

What are the best parts about the job?

The best part of my job is getting to help people. I normally see them when they have an issue, so I enjoy making their day better.

How do you feel like you contribute to the mission?

I contribute by taking care of the flyer’s and maintainers’ personnel needs effectively and efficiently so they can focus on their part in the mission.

What are the keys to success in your Air Force career?

My success wouldn’t be possible without the support of my family, friends, mentors and troops.

What is one goal that you have already accomplished, or would like to accomplish, during your Air Force career?

I hope to leave the Air Force with a better generation of Airman than my generation through training, process improvement and mentorship.
