During a speech at the Air Force Association Air, Space and Cyber Conference, Secretary of the Air Force Heather Wilson kicked off the Air Force’s new Spark Tank Competition.

The competition, which is co-hosted between the Airmen Powered by Innovation and AFwerX innovation ecosystem, is an additional incentive for Airmen to pitch their innovative ideas to Air Force leaders.

The Air Force outlined the following criteria for innovative idea submissions:

  • Submissions shall not include: classified material, uniform-change requests, publication reviews or unoriginal ideas

  • Submitter(s) must provide one to two paragraphs describing their idea and answer the following questions:

  1. What does the product or service do?

  2. Who will use it?

  3. What benefit will the user derive from it?

  4. How confident are you that the core of the idea has not been or is not currently being pursued by others?

  5. How developed is your idea?

The Continuous Process Improvement office can assist with submissions. Submissions are due to the CPI Office no later than Nov. 27 and should be sent to the 22 ARW/CPI Organizational box, 22.ARW.CPI.Manpower@us.af.mil.

While the McConnell CPI Office welcomes everyone’s innovative or process improvement ideas, the Spark Tank Competition is only open to active duty, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserves enlisted, officer and government civilian employees.

If your idea is selected, you can win an all-expenses-paid three-day trip to Orlando with $2,500 in your pocket. For more information, contact Joe Lett, CPI Manager at (316) 759-3082.
