Changes to TRICARE urgent care referral requirements Published Jan. 12, 2018 By Staff Reports 22nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan.— TRICARE’s urgent care referral requirements recently changed. Non-active duty beneficiaries, including retirees and dependents, no longer need a referral or authorization for urgent care. However, in order to avoid claims issues during the transition, it’s recommended that all Prime patients continue to receive a referral for urgent care through Jan. 19. TRICARE Prime active-duty service members, not including those with TRICARE prime Remote, must continue to contact their primary care manager or the nurse advice line to schedule an appointment or obtain a referral for urgent care services. Point of services charges no longer apply for urgent care, but prime retirees and their family members will pay a $30 co-payment for urgent care. The Urgent Care Pilot previously limited to two yearly self-referred visits per patient is no longer in effect. Please call 316-759-5944 or visit the 22nd Medical Group TRICARE Office, which is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with any medical billing issues.
