MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. – On Feb. 1, Lt. Col. Matt Basler, Profession of Arms Center of Excellence senior professionalism instructor, visited McConnell to teach the PACE: Enhancing Human Capital Course.

The course included topics regarding professionalism, trust, human behavior, bias and misconception. Basler, who has been with PACE for 14 months, gave examples from personal experience regarding most of the topics. Approximately 250 Airmen and spouses attended the class.

Basler said the purpose of the course is to better Airmen, leaders and people, and that individuals are able to better themselves by leading themselves.

“It’s rewarding,” said Basler. “I love what I do because if we’re helping just 20 or 30 percent, then we’re still making a difference and improving our Air Force.”

The course provides strategies to anyone who is willing to lead. Basler explained that he believes the class is vital and will continue to better Airmen in the Air Force.

“It’s an incredible course,” said Col. Josh Olson, 22nd Air Refueling Wing commander. “It really gets that human factor. It’s about making you better as a leader and as men, women and parents, and that’s what we need more of.”

Every member of the U.S. Air Force, including civilians and dependents, is entrusted with the responsibility to preserve national security and answer our nation’s call at any moment. In order to maintain this trust, upholding values and professionalism is crucial.
