As part of the 22nd Air Refueling Wing's endeavor to attain the 2013 Commander in Chief's Installation Excellence Award, a team of inspectors led by Maj. Gen. Timothy Byers, the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer, visited McConnell Airmen, Jan. 7-8, 2013.

Col. John Kubinec, 377th Air Base Wing commander, led the inspection of the 22nd Mission Support Group. Kubinec's team visited various facilities and offices to learn more about how the unit effectively supports the base.

The 22nd MSG helps the 22nd ARW accomplish its airlift and air refueling mission by providing quality-of-life and installation support for more than 5,000 Airmen and civilian employees on base.

Kubinek's team toured more than 20 buildings and offices operated by the group, including the Chisholm Trail Inn dining facility, the Robert J. Dole Community Center, the Krueger Recreational area and the Youth Center.

"The route taken by Kubinec was put together to showcase how the diverse functions of the Mission Support Group contribute to the installation's success," said Maj. Joseph Lett, Commander, 22nd Manpower Personnel Flight.

The CINC IEA was established in 1984 to recognize the outstanding efforts of people who operate and maintain Department of Defense installations and effectively use their resources to support the mission.
