Dole Center get 'energy' boost

MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. --  After two weeks of assembly, the new kiosk at the Robert J. Dole Community Center is now serving coffee and smoothies as well as muffins and bagels beginning 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday

"The 22nd Force Support Squadron is changing the way we deliver services and programs to our customers," said Lt. Col. Nicholl Dial, 22nd FSS commander. "Starting with more choices at Twister Café and a coffee kiosk established for the sole purpose of giving time back to our customers,"

Twister's Café, connected to the Tornado Alley bowling center, will also adjust their schedule to provide for Team McConnell during breakfast hours due to closure of Deb's Café.

Deb's Café, a McConnell vendor for 30 years, closed on May 31, 2012, creating the need for extended hours and a wider food selection at Twister's.

Twister's has added breakfast items as well as grab-and-go items including prepared sandwiches, bottled drinks and fruit with yogurt. The café is open 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

We are trying to provide a place that is convenient, separating the coffee service and allowing orders to be called in for pick-up at Twisters café, said Dial.

The installation of the kiosk initiates change in the Dole Center that will be finished by the move of the dining facility to where Deb's Café used to be.

Services currently located in the Dole Center include the 22nd Military Personnel Section, Airman Leadership School, First Term Airman's Center, Education Office, Fitness Center, and Air Force Information, Tickets and Travel office.

"It will benefit customers, both military and civilian, of the activities in the Dole Center, such as those in the Military Personnel Section, Airman Leadership School and the First Term Airmen Center," said Chief Master Sgt. Boyd Bryant, 22nd FSS superintendent.
