McConnell's Airman and Family Readiness Center hosted a job fair at the Robert J. Dole Community Center March 28, 2012.

The job fair provided information for separating military personnel, civilians, dependents and retirees. More than 80 local employers set up booths at the event. Even though most booths included local businesses, a few of the employers offered information about jobs available nationwide.

"The goal is to spread the word about the program and let veterans know that options are out there," said Laura Spears, Compass Point programs specialist.

As one of the vendors, Spears accepted resumes and distributed information about work programs and how to pursue other work-related training.

In addition to offering transition programs for military and former military, the annual event is also an opportunity for the community to support Airmen.

"[We] want to help people that served our country because we sometimes have a hard time getting a job after the military," said Spears.

One Airman who took advantage of the job fair was Master Sgt. Lorenzo Clark, 22nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron production expediter. Clark has been in the Air Force for 23 years.

"It's a great opportunity to get information and see what doors are open," he said. "I'm looking for networking opportunities, because a lot of times at job fairs it's not just about what the company has to offer, but usually who they know."

While at the job fair Clark visited 20 booths. He was among more than 300 people that took advantage of the variety of tables.

"The job fair went really well, we had a lot of positive feedback from the employers and job seekers," said Angela Edwards, Airman and Family Readiness Center school liaison officer and job fair coordinator.
