The 2011 Air Force Assistance Fund concluded recently with $55,000 in total contributions, exceeding the Air Force recommended goal by 106 percent.

"Considering all of the recent real-world events that have taken place, and the impact that they have had on our operations tempo, I think that we had a very successful campaign," said Capt. Courtland Stanley, 344th Air Refueling Squadron Scheduling chief and AFAF point of contact.

The AFAF was established to provide an annual effort to raise funds for charitable affiliates that give support to the Air Force family, including active duty Airmen, retirees, Guard and Reserve members, dependents and surviving spouses.

"I would like to thank all of the hard-working Group Project Officers, Unit Project Officers and Key Workers for their impressive drive during this meaningful campaign," said Captain Stanley. "Team McConnell came through with an impressive donation to this campaign and its root cause, Airmen helping Airmen."

McConnell's contributions will benefit the four official Air Force charitable organizations: Air Force Aid Society, Air Force Enlisted Village, Air Force Village and the General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation.

The largest contribution came from the 22nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron donating $9,883. The squadron that contributed the most based on the amount collected versus the Air Force goal is the 22nd Contracting Squadron, which contributed 474 percent of its goal.

"This campaign was a great success because of the efforts and generosity put forth by our Airmen," said Col. Kevin Lamberth, 22nd Air Refueling Wing vice commander. "I couldn't be prouder of this wing's willingness to support each other. The contributions show that we really are good at taking care of our own."
