McConnell's legal office releases March 2011 Crime, Punishment Survey Published April 6, 2011 By Legal staff 22nd Air Refueling Wing Judge Advocate MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- Below is a list of prohibited actions committed by Airmen who received Article 15s, as well as additional punishments. DUIs: One McConnell member was caught driving under the influence in March. That member has a pending Article 15 action. ARTICLE 15s: A senior airman from the 22nd Aerospace Medicine Squadron received a suspended reduction to the grade of airman first class and suspended forfeitures of $100 of pay for two months, 15 days extra duty and a reprimand for failure to go, disrespect toward a superior commissioned officer and dereliction of duty. The Airman later received a vacation action for failure to go and was immediately reduced to airman first class. A staff sergeant from 22nd Medical Operations Squadron received a suspended reduction to the grade of senior airman, 10 days extra duty and a reprimand for failure to go and dereliction in the performance of duties. A major from the 350th Air Refueling Squadron received forfeitures of $3,425 of pay for two months and a reprimand for DUI. DEMOTIONS: Two members of the 22nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron were demoted to airman first class for failing three fitness assessments within a 24-month period. A technical sergeant from 22nd AMXS was demoted to staff sergeant for failing three fitness assessments within a 24-month period. DISCHARGES: An airman basic from the 22nd Security Forces Squadron was administratively discharged for driving on base on multiple occasions without vehicle registration, sleeping on duty while posted at the gate several times, improper wear of the uniform and for failing two consecutive fitness assessments. An airman first class from the 22nd AMXS was administratively discharged for wrongfully possessing and using marijuana. COURT-MARTIAL: Master Sgt. Buddy Gerhardt was court-martialed before a general court-Martial March 4, 2011. He was charged with multiple accounts of indecent acts, child endangerment and false official statements. He was found guilty of all of the charges, and received punishment consisting of confinement for three years, dishonorable discharge, total forfeitures and reduction to E-1.
