Team McConnell (Airpower!!!),

Last Friday we had a great showing at our "Ultimate Frisbee," "Grill Your Own Steak Night;" and some of our own were able to show off their musical talent at Air Mobility CommandIcon. Congratulations to our winners: 1st Place - Staff Sgt. Brenda Johnson (22nd Force Support Squadron), 2nd Place - Airman 1st Class Nyrika Davis (22nd Logisitics Readiness Squadron), 3rd Place - Staff Sgt. Sidney Okagu (22nd Air Refueling Wing Command Post). Please wish Staff Sgt. Johnson luck as she goes on to represent us at the AMC level competition in October.

Thank you for your efforts this week in our Nuclear Operational Readiness Exercise. Some of you were probably surprised by our recall on Sunday morning, but that is exactly what we could experience if we had to do this for real. This week was another "first" for our wing as we took the fight to a forward operating location. In the course of just a few days, you proved how our wing was able to mobilize personnel and equipment, generate aircraft, establish a forward alert presence and redeploy. I was proud of how you executed as a team and showcased our wing's support of the nuclear mission.

This morning 132 McConnell members were notified of their selection to staff sergeant. If you didn't have the chance to congratulate our promotees at the party this afternoon, please do so when you see them. The worldwide results are available on the Air Force Personnel Center homepage. Also, congrats to Capt. Christopher MacDonald for winning the General Robert "Dutch" Huyser Award in the pilot category. This award is part of the 2010 Airlift/Tanker Association (A/TA) awards program. Captain MacDonald was assigned to the 349th Air Refueling Squadron, and is currently serving as the Maintenance Group Executive Officer.
.
It's been a longer than normal week for many of you so I hope you will have the opportunity to relax and recharge your batteries weekend.

Thanks for all that you do.
