McConnell football team kicks off

MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- The McConnell Air Force Base varsity flag football team, team number six, will continue its six-week spring league season competing for a position in the Young Men's Christian Association play-offs with two games beginning at 1 p.m. May 2 and noon May 9 at the North YMCA located near K-96 and Woodlawn.

The team, which consists of 15 active-duty Airmen from various career fields at McConnell, is slated to play in a benefit tournament aimed at funding shelters for battered women in October 2010.
