SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Just wanted to give you a quick update on McConnell Airmen. Everyday these young people amaze me and are executing the mission, displaying excellence in everything they do. The aircrews and maintainers are working very hard to keep the planes flying in very extreme and sandy conditions.

The goal of McConnell becoming a Total Force operation is definitely on track here. We have 13 different units making up the 340th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron and only five of these are active duty. My staff is represented by the Guard and Reserve. I am truly impressed by the professionalism and attitude of these folks and how they work for the greater good of the unit.

Thank you for the opportunity to command such a diverse squadron. We continue to transition this squadron from expeditionary to enduring, so the next commander can focus on the long term future of the squadron.
