April: A time to celebrate, strengthen McConnell families Published April 15, 2009 By Alisa Norlin and Airman 1st Class Kevin Yeates 22nd Medical Operations Squadron MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The McConnell Family Advocacy Program has a number of activities throughout April to raise awareness of this important issue by encouraging individuals and communities to support healthy children and healthy families. There will be a variety of events taking place. All events are free and provide valuable resources for military families. · Common Sense Parenting: This six-week class honors, strengthens and builds healthy relationship between parents and children. This class is held on Thursdays and runs for six weeks starting April 23. Classes are in the Robert J. Dole Community Center, Room 158, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring your sack lunch. To register call 759-5091. · Relationship and Marital Enhancement Seminar: Healthy couples provide the foundation for healthy children. This six-week class is held on Mondays and runs for six weeks. The class started on Monday, but there is still time to attend. Classes are in the Robert J. Dole Community Center, Room 158 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. For more information or to register, call 759-5091.
