Recently, a new procedure was instituted here at McConnell. All automated gates will be closed, meaning you must use your Restricted Area Badge/Proximity Card with associated Personal Identification Number to gain access to the flight line maintenance complex.

Security forces do open two automated gates to assist with morning traffic volume from 6 to 8 a.m. and lunch traffic volume from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The first automated gate located near the intersection of Kansas St and Sedgwick St, just south of the primary Fire Station. The second gate located just south of building 1168 near the intersection of Douglas St and Topeka St.

To gain access into the FMC, place your RAB/Proximity Card near the magnetic reader and you will hear a "beep." At this time, enter your PIN on the adjacent keypad and the gate will open. If the proximity card and PIN match and are recognized by the control system, the gates or turnstiles open and allow access.

Exits through the gates are controlled by the proximity card and no PIN is required.

After entering or exiting through the vehicle gate, all drivers will stop at the predetermined location and wait for the gates to close. The predetermined location is identified by a sign stating "Stop Here Until Gate Closed."

If you have issues with your RAB/Proximity Card, please stop by the Visitors Center for re-key or re-issue. If you believe the gate and/or any turnstile might be broken, please call the MECC at 759-3976.
