New policy comes to McConnell Published Dec. 10, 2008 MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- McConnell Air Force Base will convert to 7-digit telephone dialing on Dec. 15. This is part of an Air Force effort to standardize telephone switches and calling methods across all Air Force bases. All callers will dial 7 digits to contact other callers on McConnell. All other dialing sequences remain the same, including dialing 0 for the base operator, 911 for emergency services, and 99 followed by a 7 digit extension to reach the 184th Intelligences Wing, Kansas Air National Guard or an off-base number. If you currently have speed or autodial functions programmed with a 4-digit extension, you should update those buttons with the full 7-digit number prior to the change over. This will ensure the buttons work properly when you need them.
