What are you learning on training day? Published Sept. 11, 2008 By Staff Sgt. Ronald Lafosse 22nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- Supervisors, have you thought about what to train your Airmen on during the next training day scheduled for Sept. 19? "Developing Airmen begins with proper training to accomplish their primary mission whether at home station or deployed and ensures our team's readiness to respond when called upon," said Col. Michael Krueger, 22nd Air Refueling Wing vice commander. Specifically, supervisors should focus on specific job-related tasks their Airmen require for up-grade training, on-the-job training, world wide qualifications, etc. "These days are set aside for our wing to focus on the basics of being ready to fly, fight and win," said Colonel Krueger Here are some tips to focus on for training day provided by Staff Sgt. Cheyenne Jackson, 22nd Mission Support Group consolidated training office: · Ancillary Training. · Wartime tasks. · Readiness training. · Training new supervisors. · Career development courses. · Standardizing training records (removing old and unnecessary items). · Automated training records. "Much of the ancillary training we're able to address on training days such as Self-Aid and Buddy Care has application in our everyday lives, and offers our Airmen the opportunity to focus on completing mandatory training outside an Airman's specialty or primary duties," said Colonel Krueger. The wing has scheduled training days on the third Friday of every month and to give supervisors a day with their Airmen to focus on training.
