Team McConnell Airmen attended special duty briefings at the base theater, Aug. 5.

The briefings provided airmen with information about becoming recruiters, military training instructors and military training leaders.

One of the many topics discussed were the various incentives offered to Airmen selected for special duties, ranging from an additional clothing allowance to choosing the location of their assignment.

"In recruiting and also in the training instructor world we have incentives," said Master Sgt Monte Mitchell, non commissioned officer in charge, Air Force Recruiters Screening Team, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. "You get $450 extra a month to be a recruiter and $325 to be a training instructor. Also, you get a four-year controlled tour."

Under a controlled tour airmen become non-deployable and ineligible to apply for overseas tours. This is to provide airmen a stable working environment in which to focus on their mission, said Sergeant Mitchell.

For Tech. Sgt John Reaves, 22nd Mission Support Group, the opportunity to serve as a military training instructor has a different incentive.

"You know, you're teaching what you know and what you do," said Sergeant Reaves. "And, you're helping to set those individuals up to be successful throughout their entire careers. That would definitely serve my personality much better."

Applicants must meet several requirements including fitness, performance evaluations ratings and time on stations requirements.
