It's MatchUP time! The annual game commenced at the stroke of midnight June 1 and the competition ends Aug. 31.

To jump start the game and gather new participants, a kick-off for Air Mobility Command MatchUP 2007 was held June 2 in the Robert J. Dole Community Center ballroom from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There were numerous door prizes offered from sponsors and service activities booths, including two $500 cash drawings. Lunch was also provided.

The intent is to help increase participation and awareness of Air Force programs and services and to further improve the quality of life of our military community, according to the AMC MatchUP website, www.amcmatchup.com.

The last three years McConnell purchased new workout equipment for the fitness center's family room, and the outdoor pool opened in the summer season of 2005 without charging admission, and is doing the same this summer, according to the 22nd Services Squadron.

The more people from McConnell who register and play increase the chances of receiving a cash reward for the base.

"Not everyone is aware of MatchUp, but so far every year the number of participants has increased and I think people understand that the base can receive money for improvements if they take part," said Stacy Mayou, marketing director, 22nd Services Squadron. "It's also about taking advantage of the service programs around the base and becoming familiar with them," said Mrs. Mayou.

MatchUP is open and available to all active duty, guard, reserve, retired military, and members of the Armed Forces; including their families. Also honorably discharged veterans with 100 percent service connected disability, former and/or surviving military spouses are eligible to play.

To test out the game, you can register online for a generic trial.

There's no purchase necessary to enter or win MatchUP. Those who take part get one free scratch and play game piece each week by participating in certain activities around the base. A complete list of these activities is in the June "Twister." People can log on to the web, or call (888)597-9960 to register each game piece individually.

Registering a game piece online allows a participant the chance at being an instant winner and each time a game piece is entered, the option of playing "MatchUP" is presented.

To play the optional interactive memory matching game, "MatchUP," there is a certain amount of time and attempts allotted to finish the game (in which the goal is creating eight matches).

After completing the game successfully, your results are figured as bonus entries in the grand prize drawing, a 2007 Saab 9-3 Aero.

Hopeful third year participant, Senior Airman Kim Harding, 22nd Comptroller Squadron, has never won anything and is still trying her luck this year.

"I just like playing the game," said Airman Harding.
