Speaker coined by McConnell commander
Col. Donald J. Halpin, right, 22nd Air Refueling Wing commander, presents a coin to retired Lt. Col. Steve Dorfman, from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, April 27, to show Team McConnell’s appreciation for his participation in the 22nd ARW’s guest speaker series.
Mr. Dorfman spoke earlier that day at the Dole Center to Team McConnell members about the history of the Air Force and Air Mobility Command. Like Mr. Dorfman, future speakers who plan to participate in the guest speaker series are from universities and learning institutions around Wichita.
The series is open to all McConnell personnel and will feature several speakers over the next five months. The goal of the speaker series is to provide Airmen an opportunity to gain insight into Air Force history and the impact it has in its servicemembers and to teach them what to expect for the future of the Air Force. Some speakers will also cover topics geared toward familiarizing Airmen with non-western ways of life.
The next presenter in the series is Dr. Don Conway Long, from Webster University, who will present ‘Islam 101’ and discuss major topics in non-western religion and culture. The presentation is scheduled for May 18 from 3-4 p.m. in the Dole Center ballroom. (Photo by Airman 1st Class Jessica Lockoski 22nd ARW Public Affairs)
