22nd Director of Staff member earns spotlight performer

Senior Airman Christina Lai, 22nd Air Refueling Wing command post controller, is currently deployed with the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing and has been in the Air Force for three years and eight months. She has been stationed at McConnell for three years. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native's hobbies include visiting museums, national parks, landmarks and exploring.

Who is the most positive influence in your life and why?
My mom is the most influential person in my life. She is a strong woman and has taught me a lot about life. She is a person who works hard and won't stop until she reaches her goals.

What would you like to accomplish during your Air Force career?
During my Air Force career I would like to accomplish many things. I want to travel and go to different bases to broaden my knowledge of command and control duties. I would also like to finish my bachelor's in business management. Finally, I would like to become a great leader one day.

Where is the most interesting place you have traveled and why do you feel that way?
One of the most interesting places I have traveled to would be southwest Asia. I am currently deployed here and I love it. I've met some amazing people. Everyone is here to complete the same mission and I am motivated just being around this amazing team.

What is your favorite book/ movie and why?
My favorite book is the autobiography "Trio" by Frank McCourt. His writing is witty and his story is bittersweet. I like any movies that remind me of my hometown, New York City...movies like "I love New York," because I am familiar with the scenes that are part of the movie and it reminds me of home.

If you have the opportunity to meet anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
The person I would love to meet the most in the world would be President Barack Obama, commander-in-chief. It would be an honor to meet the leader of the free world and shake hands with him one day.
