MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- Tech. Sgt. Jondraia McFadden, 22nd Operations Support Squadron host aviation resource management NCOIC, has served in the Air Force for 11 years and has been stationed at McConnell for four years. Her hobbies include shopping, reading and fishing.

Who is the most positive influence in your life and why?
The most influential people in my life are my parents, Thomas and Lillie McFadden. My father is a carpenter, who built our home with his own hands and several others throughout our community. He has always been an honest hard-working man. My mother, an entrepreneur, has owned her own business as long as I can remember. My mother is equally as hard working and honest but also very nurturing. They instilled in me at a very early age the importance of being honest and trustworthy, having faith in God, hard work and determination. The core values we are taught in the United States Air Force were those that have been instilled in me from the very beginning so the transition from civilian to Airman was fairly easy.

What would you like to accomplish during your Air Force career?
I would love to become a first sergeant. I have a great deal of respect for what they do. I know it's very time consuming but I can tell it's a rewarding experience. Being able to be in a position where you can serve all Airmen is truly remarkable and I'd love to serve my country in that way. I believe that any opportunity you have to leave a place better than you found it is worth the sweat, tears and long hours you put into it.

Where is the most interesting place you have traveled and why do you feel that way?
The most interesting place I have traveled to was actually during my first deployment to Southwest Asia. I had been in the military for six year and had never been deployed. The moment I was assigned to McConnell, I had that opportunity to deploy and it changed the way I viewed my role in my career field and the service I provide to the United States. I got to see the "big picture," and how vital my role as an aviation resource manager played in the success of each mission. It also opened my eyes to different cultures and their way of life which further strengthened my belief and passion to serve the greatest country in the world.

What is your favorite book/ movie and why?
My favorite is "The Five Love Languages" by Gary D. Chapman. It was really any eye opener to the different ways people show and receive love. It examines five steps: words of affirmation, quality time, receiving gifts, acts of service and physical touch. We all come from different backgrounds and when choosing a partner, communicating and expressing love in a way that the person can understand and receive that love is essential to the growth of the relationship. I would recommend this book to any couple who is experiencing difficulty in their relationships or individual seeking understanding of themselves when it comes to love.

If you have the opportunity to meet anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
If I could meet anyone in this world it would be President Barack Obama. I believe he's in a difficult position. Making decisions that affect our country can't be easy job and at times very thankless. It's easier to sit back and ridicule, place blame on the way things are in the world and disagree with decisions that must be made when you aren't in the position to make those decisions. I think he has to make some difficult decisions and while we won't always agree with them all, he is our commander in chief and the oath of enlistment we've sworn to uphold obligates us to serve faithfully and honorably under him. I would like to meet him to simply say ,"Thank you Sir, you're doing a great job."
