Col. Joe Wall, the new commander of the 22nd Air Refueling Wing, hosted two all-calls alongside Chief Master Sgt. Markiesha Crawford, 22nd ARW command chief, on September 4, 2025.

Wall underlined the importance of the Air Force core values, helping top leadership engage with, share priorities, and continue open communication between base personnel. “Leadership is taking care of people and getting the mission done,” Wall said. “Leadership threads the needle to make sure both get done. Leadership allows me to be myself, take my experiences and share them to get to a place we think is a team.”

Wall recognized Team McConnell’s historic excellence and the trust among the team to achieve past goals. He talked about his goals for the wing and how they aligned with the 22nd ARW’s priorities:

  1. Nuclear Readiness – Our single most important priority is supporting the nuclear mission. Strategic deterrence is enabled through our air refueling and support mission capabilities.

  1. Power Projection – We must constantly, to the best of our capacity, be poised to support world-wide combat support taskings. Our professionals will be ready to execute any mission, any time.

  1. Airmen Development – Our Airmen, Civilians, and Families are our greatest strength, and we are successful in our mission only because of them. We will continue to be deliberate growing and developing our people.

  1. Installation Resilience – With the support of our Community and Partners, we must work to maintain a strong base infrastructure, capable of overcoming challenges imposed by our adversaries and/or the environment.

The all-calls created a platform for discussions and insights into McConnell’s future missions. They allowed base personnel to voice their concerns, celebrate accomplishments, and continue a sense of unity in pursuing the base's vision for continued excellence.

“It is an honor to be your Commander,” Wall said. “I am committed to you, your families, and our team. Underneath this uniform, I am a human being first, and I am ready to get after it with you. We will succeed in executing our mission and will do so while serving proudly and advancing our community. Our Air Force and the United States depends on us, and we will be there.”
