MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- McConnell Air Force Base will hold an open house January 13, 4-6 p.m., in downtown Wichita, for the public release of the 2025 Air Installations Compatible Use Zones (AICUZ) Study for the base.
The goal of the AICUZ Program is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of those living and working near air bases while sustaining the Air Force’s operational mission. To accomplish this goal, the Air Force provides an AICUZ Study to aid in development of local planning mechanisms that will protect the public safety and health, as well as preserve the operational capabilities of McConnell AFB.
This 2025 AICUZ is an update to McConnell AFB’s previous 2011 AICUZ and includes the latest information with respect to not only the noise and safety environment but also land uses and development around the installation. The update includes operational changes that have occurred since the 2011 study, including the addition of the KC-46s and a reevaluation of the installation’s operational noise and safety zones.
The AICUZ Open House will be held at Wichita’s Advanced Learning Library, 711 West 2nd Street in Wichita.
The AICUZ Open House will include a short presentation with a video about the AICUZ Program, along with a series of informational posters staffed, which will be staffed by the Air Force where you can ask additional questions.
