The base First Sergeants Council will host a breakfast to raise money for the 2016 Air Force Assistance Fund in the Robert J. Dole Community Center Signatures Lounge, Feb. 1, from 8-10 a.m.

The AFAF allows Airmen to donate to specific charities aimed at helping other Airmen and their families who have found themselves facing financial challenges.

"Our goal is to get 100 percent contact with everybody and give them an opportunity to give to a great cause, caring for our fellow Airmen," said Capt. Thomas Neveu, Air Force Assistance Fund installation project officer.

At the kick-off, there will be all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage and beverages. It will cost $6 to pre-pay or $8 at the door.

The Air Force Village Charitable Foundation, Air Force Enlisted Village, LeMay Foundation and Air Force Aid Society are the foundations the AFAF assists. The four foundations give loans and grants to those in need. The funds may help put a roof above a retired service member, assist with emergency costs, or help repair an Airman's broken car so they can go to work.

Last year, McConnell received over $109,200 in financial aid from AFAF Foundations.

Many of the groups around base will host fundraisers, providing more opportunities to raise money for Airmen and families in need.

"Every dollar counts," said Neveu. "You never know when you are going to be the one who's in need. The AFAF will be there for you in the future if needed."
