The west gate, located off George Washington Blvd. South, will be under construction Dec. 14-18.

Due to the construction, inbound traffic will divert from typical traffic patterns.

Normally, personal and commercial vehicles would go through the gate using either of the open two lanes. But now, during construction, POVs will detour into one lane, while commercial vehicles will use the other lane.

"We'll have cones out to help divert traffic to the appropriate lanes," said Tech. Sgt. Kathrine Johns, 22nd Security Forces Squadron physical security NCO in-charge. "Everyone should plan ahead for delays during traffic peak hours."

It is important that during peak traffic hours, such as 6:30 - 8 a.m. and 4:30 5 p.m., all vehicles use the updated traffic plans. Personal vehicles are to use the north lane while commercial vehicles will receive a pass and be searched in the south lane.

"We just ask that anyone who uses the west gate be patient with us and try to use the East gate [located on South Rock Road] as much as possible," said Johns.

Refer to the map for more information on the project location, and detour routes during construction.

Drivers are encouraged to exercise caution while driving in the work zones.
