Team McConnell's Air Force Ball scheduled for Sept. 12 Published Aug. 20, 2015 By Staff Reports 22nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- Team McConnell's Air Force Ball is scheduled for Sept. 12 at the Marriott Hotel in Wichita, Kansas, and tickets are on sale now. The theme for this year's Air Force Ball is "Creating Partnerships, Bridging Communities," and will feature live music and a guest speaker, Congressman Michael R. Pompeo. "We chose this theme to highlight the interdependent relationship we have with our neighbors in Sedgwick County and throughout Kansas," said Col. Albert Miller, 22nd Air Refueling Wing commander. "These partnerships allow us to support one another and foster a more dynamic community, which in turn improves both quality of life for our Airmen and their families, and our mission effectiveness for our nation. There is no better place to celebrate the birthday of the world's greatest Air Force, than in the Air Capital." The Air Force ball is held annually to celebrate the Air Force heritage dating back to the date the Air Force became its own branch of service, Sept. 18, 1947. The dress code for the event will be mess dress or semi-formal uniform dress for military members and formal dress for non-military members. The evening will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m. followed by dinner and dancing. All members interested in attending the ball, must purchase their tickets by close of business Sept. 8. Ticket prices have been set to: Category 1: E-1 - E-4 - $15 Category 2: E-5 - E-6, GS 8 and below - $20 Category 3: O-1 - O3, GS 9 - 12 - $30 Category 4: O-4 and up, E-7 and up, GS 13 and up - $40 Childcare will be provided free of charge for deployed spouses through the Give Parents A Break voucher program. For all other children, childcare will cost $24 per a child and reservations are required by close of business Sept. 4 to the Child Development Center at (316) 759-4223 or the School Age Program at (316) 759-6859. Paperwork is required prior to dropping off children for care. "Airmen Against Drunk Driving will be on site providing designated drivers for those who need it," said Master Sgt. Latonia Booze, Air Force Ball tickets sales and marketing committee lead. All Team McConnell members are invited to celebrate their Air Force Heritage at the event.
