Honor your hero blood drive Published May 12, 2015 By Staff Reports 22nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- The dictionary definition of a hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements or noble qualities. Heroes can come in all shapes and sizes. While some wear uniforms, many do not. Heroes can be well known or just held in high regard by individuals. Team McConnell will host the "Honor Your Hero" blood drive beginning May 13 here. "We are asking all McConnell Airmen to come out and help support the blood drive," said 1st Lt. A.J. Iduwe, 22nd Logistics Readiness Squadron material management flight commander. "This quarter we have made it a competition between the 22nd Air Refueling Wing and the 184th Intelligence Wing , and currently they are in the lead." All blood types are needed; in particular O negative, A negative, and B negative. To donate see the dates and times of upcoming "Honor Your Hero" blood drives. Iduwe said this quarter the 22nd ARW is hoping to contribute 300 units to the "Honor Your Hero" blood drive. "I know we can do more than achieve this goal which ultimately equates to saving lives," exclaimed Iduwe.
