The base Judge Advocate General's office hosted a "Commander and the law" workshop to educate base leadership on the military justice process, May 1, 2015.

Squadron commanders, superintendents, first sergeants and flight commanders were able to ask questions to better understand the military justice process and the options available to the Airmen they supervise during the open forum.

"The beginning of the meeting was over discipline and topics the staff judge advocate felt McConnell either has issues with or needs to be more educated on," said Master Sgt. Renee Cenov, 22nd Judge Advocate NCO in charge. "We talked about an array of things such as administrative actions, demotions, discharges, Article 15s and court martials."

With the information provided, base leadership will have a better understanding of how to handle difficult situations involving their Airmen.

"The most important thing that I have learned today is to contact agencies early in an event that a situation arises," said Master Sgt. Latonia Booze, 22nd Force Support Squadron in-room first sergeant. "Such as Air Force Office of Special Investigations or JA so that I can get proper response and action that should be taken."

The workshop could help newer leaders feel relieved as well as sharpen the more experienced leaders.

"It is very beneficial, I am glad that I had the opportunity to come in and experience this workshop," said Booze. "I am now more comfortable and confident I am making the right decisions for not only the member but also the Air Force."
