Eighteen company grade officers from McConnell Air Force Base participated in Kansas State University's Air Force ROTC career day 19 Feb., at K-State,  in Manhattan, Kansas.

The McConnell CGOs represented 12 different air force specialty codes and spoke with more than 60 first through fourth year ROTC cadets about their future AFSC options.

"It was very informational," said Maxie Mikle, a Wichita native and freshman in K-State's ROTC program. "I want to be a pilot but security forces and intelligence sparked my interest after I heard from them."

Career day is a way for current Air Force officers to help develop the next generation of Air Force leaders. Seven of the 60 ROTC cadets are expected to commission this summer.

"I already know I'm going to be a pilot," said Carl Minnix, a senior in the K-state ROTC program and a Scott City native. "Now I have some insight into what I can expect once I get to pilot training but this experience also gave me some perspective on the other jobs in the Air Force."
