Active duty Airmen stationed at McConnell AFB may think they're limited to sightseeing on the great plains when it comes to in expensive travel, but the space available travel program here can provide them opportunities to visit different parts of the world.

The variety of locations the McConnell KC-135 Stratotanker flies to means a variety of places passengers may also travel.

"If we have a flight going out and if there are seats available, we release that information to military families, military personel on leave and retirees," said Senior Airman Jeffery Jordan, 22nd Logistics Readiness Squadron air terminal specialist. "That way they can get a free flight to wherever the plane may be going."

Active duty members must be on leave when signing up for Space-A, and fill out an AMC Form 140. The form can be e-mailed, faxed, scanned or handed in at the passenger terminal.
Space-A flights are not guaranteed and can be delayed or cancelled if seats become unavailable due to mission requirements, and every flight is a one way flight.

"In order to have a successful trip, you have to be flexible and ready to use extra days of leave," said Senior Airman Cody Harlow, 22nd LRS air terminal specialist. "If you want to go to Japan, you should sign up with Space-A here as well as every other passenger terminal in between here and your final destination."

Even though McConnell is in the heartland of America, the tankers global reach allows every Airman here an opportunity to see the world.
