Tax season has begun and the McConnell Tax Center is here to help. The Tax Center will open its doors on Jan. 29 and help you file your 2013 Federal Income and State Tax Returns for free. Active Duty, dependents, retirees, and Air Force civilians are all eligible.

The Tax Center is located in the Finance building, bldg 750 in room 106. The Tax Center will be open Jan. 29 through Apr 15, Monday through Friday by appointment only, 830 through 4 p.m. Please note that the Tax Center will open Jan. 29 to prepare returns; however, tax returns cannot be submitted until Jan. 31.

Please be sure you have all of your tax documents before filing. Last year a few people filed early before receiving all of their documents and had to file amended returns!

1) W-2

2) 1099-INT, interest form if applicable

3) 1099-DIV, dividend form if applicable

4) 1099-B, stock form if applicable

5) 1098-T, if you want to file education expenses

6) 1098, for mortgage interests

Last year we filed the taxes of 1,600 people, generating over $3.8 million in refunds, and saving Airmen over $355,000 in preparation fees. This service is free of charge, and our trained, certified tax center volunteers are happy to assist.
