Base legal office has new kiosk, hours

MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. --  To better serve their customers, the base legal office has recently installed a kiosk in their reception area and increased legal assistance hours.
 
The kiosk will improve Legal Assistance for qualified beneficiaries by making the Air Force Legal Assistance website https://aflegalassistance.law.af.mil more accessible and giving clients the opportunity to provide valuable feedback.

The Legal Assistance website is designed for active duty and Reserve component members, retirees, and dependents. While this public website may be accessed at home, the kiosk affords clients the flexibility of stopping by the office and completing a power of attorney worksheet at their convenience.

The website contains three main features:

· Legal Topics: Short papers on common legal assistance topics such as wills and family law issues. This section also contains links to other helpful sites.

· Legal Worksheets: Access to secure online questionnaires for wills, living wills, and powers of attorney. After completing the questionnaire, the website provides each client a unique "ticket number." Please have this ticket number when making an appointment.

· Feedback: Following a visit to the legal office, clients are able to provide important feedback. The feedback allows us to evaluate how we are meeting the legal assistance needs of the base community.

Additionally, the legal office has expanded their Legal Assistance hours to better serve the McConnell community. However, notaries and power of attorneys are no longer available on a walk-in basis during duty hours - only during expanded hours.

Legal Assistance hours are now on Mondays from 8:30 a.m. to noon by appointment; Wednesdays, wills are administered from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. by appointment only and Fridays, Legal Assistance can be provided from 8:30 a.m. to noon with no appointment necessary.
