Col. Joel Jackson, 22nd Air Refueling Wing commander, recently began a new program designed to give him a closer look on how the Airmen of Team McConnell accomplish their mission.

The program gives Jackson the chance to spend an hour or two with Airmen from different squadrons across the base and see what they do and how they perform their work duties on a daily basis.

"I thought it would be great to get out and work with the different functions around the wing so I could develop an appreciation for what each work section is like," said Jackson. "If you only spend a few minutes with someone you may get a completely different image of their life and their job, versus working with them for a couple of hours."

Group commanders here will show Jackson a section from one of their squadrons that they would like highlighted to the wing commander.

Jackson's first visit was to the 22nd Medical Operations Squadron.

"I'm honored that my leadership trusted me with training Col. Jackson that day," said Airman 1st Class Bianca Alcantara, 22nd Medical Operation Squadron medical technician. "I think the front desk job is fairly easy. You just have to be well rounded and patient because some of the patients are really sick and grumpy."

Jackson hopes as he visits different squadrons and learns what different Airmen do, he will learn from them just as much as they can learn from him.

"If I am lucky, I will get to pass something on to these Airmen, but what's more important is what I'd like to learn from them," said Jackson.
