Doctor offers resiliency training to Team McConnell Published July 18, 2013 MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- All Team McConnell members are encouraged to attend a briefing by Dr. Craig Bryan, a renowned Clinical Psychologist in Cognitive Behavioral Psychology, Tuesday, July 23. Bryan will speak to participants about improving career satisfaction and resilience, as well as how to reduce suicide risk. There will be three briefings, all at the base theater. Two presentations, 7 to 8 a.m., and 3 to 4 p.m., are recommended for anyone to attend, particularly E-1 to E-5, and O-1 to O-3. These sessions will help people stay motivated and counter fatigue while focusing on "Living a Life Worth Living." A third presentation, 1 to 2 p.m., is an interactive briefing catered toward supervisors to give concrete tips and hints to reduce suicide risk. Bryan will debunk common myths about suicide and help supervisors learn how to focus on warning signs while taking care of themselves. This session is recommended for all individuals E-6 and above and O-4 and above. Bryan is a Board-Certified Clinical Psychologist in Cognitive Behavioral Psychology, and is the Associate Director of the National Center for Veterans Studies at the University of Utah. As a Captain in the Air Force, Bryan deployed to Iraq in 2009, where he served as the Director of the Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic. He is a nationally recognized expert in military mental health and suicide; and he serves as a consultant to the Department of Defense for suicide prevention and mental health promotion.
