22 MDG Airman earns Faces of A/R recognition

MCCONNELL AIR FORCE, Kan. --  For Airmen to earn a Faces of A/R recognition, they must be nominated by members of their leadership, who choose individuals based on their demonstration of the Air Force's Core Values: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do.


Second Lt. Jenise Harris, 22nd Medical Group practice manager, received the Faces of Air Refueling recognition Dec. 21.


As group practice manager, Harris is responsible for patient access for nearly 11,000 beneficiaries. She also analyzes patient demand metrics, develops provider appointment schedules and creates appointing guidelines to ensure efficient, convenient and timely medical care.


“The GPM job is a very challenging position requiring excellent team building, analytical and time management skills,” said Lt. Col. Joshua Hartman, 22 MDG medical staff chief. “The position is normally filled by a very seasoned captain or major. Harris is punching way above her weight class, and she is clearly the right person for the job.


“Her leadership and hard work has resulted in the best patient access the 22nd MDG has seen in six years. She is constantly tackling day-to-day fires behind the scenes to keep our clinic running smoothly, as well as thinking outside the box to find ways to improve how we do business, improve staff satisfaction and improve the care that our patients deserve.”


The Columbia, South Carolina, native joined the Air Force in September 2016 and arrived at McConnell in November 2016.


What are the best parts about the job?


The best parts of my job are serving patients and collaborating with leadership, clinical and support teams to ensure delivery of trusted care.


How do you feel like you contribute to the mission?


My contribution to the mission includes prioritizing and maximizing clinical resources that support medical readiness for our service members.


What are the keys to success in your Air Force career?


The keys to success in my Air Force career thus far are my faith, family, supervisor and mentors. As stated by John C. Maxwell, “The greatest mistake we make is living in constant fear we will make one,” I approach each day as a learning experience. I learn from others and from my mistakes.


What is one goal that you have already accomplished, or would like to accomplish, during your Air Force career?


One goal I have already accomplished was surviving Commissioned Officer Training. Some of my other goals include attending Squadron Officer School and working on my Project Management Professional Certification.
