Lt. Gen. Vern M. "Rusty" Findley, Air Mobility Command vice commander, visited McConnell AFB for the first time since being assigned as the AMC vice commander in June 2008.

During his stay, General Findley visited the Robert J. Dole Community Center to observe modifications and learn about proposed improvements that Air Mobility Command may help support. Additionally, he visited the Colonel Krueger Recreation Area, paying homage to the late vice wing commander.

General Findley also reached out to the Wichita community during his visit, speaking to the Friends of McConnell and the Wichita Chamber of Commerce about the impact Air Mobility Command and McConnell are making on Air Force operations around the globe.

"To all of you, thank you so very much for what you do in this community for the great young men and women at McConnell Air Force Base and I would say through extension, our Air Force entirely," said General Findley during the Wichita Chamber of Commerce luncheon, April 23. "It really is my pleasure to come and talk to you about Air Mobility Command, the command that McConnell is an integral part of."

"We appreciate his time coming down to Wichita to share his thoughts and observations with us," said Wayne Roberts, Wichita Chamber of Commerce member. "I was impressed with the PowerPoint presentation and delivery of information."

General Findley spent two days meeting and talking with Airmen from McConnell, learning about programs and what is done for the men and women of McConnell.
