Air traffic controllers manage McConnell’s air space
(Left) Airman 1st Class Kevin Notah and Senior Airman Aaron Lynde, 22nd Operation Support Squadron air traffic controllers, use radar to view the locations of aircraft within a 64-mile radius of the base, Oct. 12, 2010, McConnell Air Force Base, Kan. This radar system helps controllers determine what aircraft are flying in the air space. ATCs are responsible for plotting aircraft positions with radar equipment, as well as computing aircraft speed, direction and altitude. (U.S. Air Force photo/Airman 1st Class Andrea Salazar)
