Team McConnell would like to honor Staff Sgt. Louis Flint, III, 22nd Civil Engineer Squadron domestic engineer, his wife Melissa, homemaker and key spouse member, their 6-year-old daughter Lily and 3-year-old son Louie by giving them a Year of the Air Force Family Spotlight award. The award is an Airman and Family Readiness Center initiative to honor families that provide outstanding support to Team McConnell.

The Flint family was nominated by Senior Master Sgt. Jeremy Kitzhaber, 22nd CES first sergeant.

According to their nomination package, Sergeant Flint sacrifices his personal time to pick up extra work tasks so his Airmen can work on their education.

In addition to his primary duties, he designed a 5-mile humvee course so the 22nd CES personnel could be war ready. He also trains McConnell Airmen as a Basic Rider Course motorcycle instructor.

Mrs. Flint has volunteered for many McConnell Enlisted Spouse Club events. She and Sergeant Flint have provided child care so spouses can attend events as well. Mrs. Flint has also solicited many community contacts and obtained a vast supply of donated door prizes to the enlisted spouses club. She has even provided and served meals for "Dorm Dinners," and worked as a Vacation Bible School volunteer at the base chapel.

Each year, the Flint family assists the American Legion Post in Mulvane, Kan., by decorating headstones and placing large flags along the roads. They have also assisted McConnell Airmen who are new to the base by providing pet and child care and lodging to those who need it.

The Flint family sacrifices their time without being asked.
