McConnell Air Force Base's 344th Air Refueling Squadron performed a flyover during the National Anthem at the Wichita Wind Surge's game April 8, 2022. Along with the flyover, volunteers from McConnell held an American flag alongside Honor Guardsmen. The pre-game activities highlighted the close connection the base has with the Wind Surge.

The Pegasus in the Wind Surge logo was specifically chosen by the team’s former owner, Lou Schwechheimer, after visiting McConnell AFB and touring a KC-46A Pegasus in 2019. The Pegasus serves as a testament to Lou, who passed away in 2020, and of the importance of the relationship between the City of Wichita and McConnell.
